Obituary of Richard K. Morseman

Richard Kenneth “Kenny” Morseman, 88, of Campbell and formerly of Tuscarora, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 22, 2021 following a brief illness while in the presence of his loving family. Born in Ulysses, Pa on September 29, 1932, Kenny was the son of Earl E. and Grace Ellison Morseman. He enlisted in the US Army as a teenager and spent a year stationed in Korea during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge from the Army, Kenny enlisted in the US Air Force in which he served until 1961. As a young man following his military service, Kenny worked in farming and as a logger. He began a 28 year career with Corning Inc., retiring as a mold mechanic at the Pressware plant in Corning. He also worked as a substitute bus driver for the Addison School District. On March 3, 1990, Kenny married Barbara VanSchaick Harrington at home in Tuscarora with Barb’s parents as witnesses. Kenny was a charter member of the Addison Eagles Aerie. He loved woodworking and had created a wonderful woodworking shop at his home in Tuscarora. He, with Barb’s help, built thousands of bird feeders which found homes throughout the country. He and Barb also developed a deep friendship with many at the Addison Auction House where they assisted with their weekly auctions. They truly enjoyed these times with their friends. Surviving Kenny is his wife, Barb Morseman of Campbell, his children, Tina and Ivan Wheeler of Rochester, Dennis Harrington and Deb of Panacea, FL, Bruce and Sharon Harrington of Campbell and Dawn Newell of Painted Post, his grandchildren, Dave, Brian, Brooke (Alex), Wade, Shannon (Jon), Matt (Jaime), Morganne (Brad), Rachelle, Jonathon, Rebekah and Katelyn, 4 great grandchildren, “special” great grandchildren, Eli, Olivia, Lily and Brady, brother, Raymond (Barbara) Morseman of Bath, sisters, Lois Housel of Addison and Betty Lou (Ronald) Bennett of Bath, sister in law, Joanne Bartholomew of Geneseo, many nieces and nephews as well as very special friends, John & Joann Goble and Bob & Nina DeLude. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Walter Morseman, Frank Morseman and Earl Morseman Jr., his sisters, Dorothy Makitra, Linda Heckert and Mary Morseman and his son in law, David Newell Sr. A private graveside service will be conducted at Addison Hill Cemetery in Tuscarora at the convenience of the family with Rev. Troy Preston officiating. A celebration of life will be held Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 2-4 at the Addison Eagles Aerie. Smith & Son Funeral Home in Woodhull.
