HARTSVILLE: Gladys I. DuBois, 86, passed away Tuesday morning, May 3, 2022 at St. James Hospital in Hornell following a brief illness. Gladys was born April 28, 1936 in Hartsville to the late Clarence and Olive (Stephens) Carney. On June 13, 1959 in Canisteo, she married Raymond J. DuBois who predeceased her in January of 2002. Gladys was a lifelong resident of Hartsville and was a graduate of Canisteo Central School class of 1956. She had worked at the former Marion Rohr Clothing, Co. in Hornell before moving on to work at Sterns & Sterns, Co. where she retired as a yarn prep machine operator with 28 years of employment to her credit. Gladys enjoyed word search puzzles and enjoyed her pets especially her cat “Lucky”. She is survived by three sons: Raymond J. Dubois, Jr. of Hartsville, Rodney DuBois of Cameron and Jeffrey (Elaine) DuBois of Hornell, one daughter: Kimberly (James) Campbell of Alfred Station, two granddaughters, Stacy (John) Alexander of Goldsboro, NC and Allyson Campbell of Alfred Station, great-grandsons, Finn and Felix Alexander. Gladys is also survived by a brother Roger (Diane) Carney of Hartsville and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and late husband, Gladys was predeceased by a granddaughter Emily Campbell, six brothers, infant brother Lawrence Carney, Royce, Lester, Milburn, Neil, Harry Lee and Clyde Carney, and three sisters, Alberta Morse, Ruth Davis and Ina Emery. Per Gladys’s request there will be no public visitation or services. A private graveside service will be at the convenience of the immediate family in the Hartsville Center Cemetery in Hartsville. Memorial contributions may be made to the Canisteo Ambulance Fund, 14 South Main St. Canisteo, NY 14823.
