Obituary of Roy G. Francis

CANISTEO: Roy G. Francis, Sr., 73, of Cty. Rte. 14 passed away unexpectedly Saturday (June 4, 2016) at St. James Mercy Hospital after being stricken at home. Roy was born July 14, 1942 in Canandaigua to Roy M. and Charlotte (Cabot) Francis. On April 14, 1979 in Canisteo he married the former Judith Sharp who survives and resides in Canisteo. Roy had worked as a farm hand for many years at various farms in the area. His last place of employment was with the Fox Farm in Wayland. He will be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed the company of his family and friends. In addition to his wife of 37 years, Judith Sharp of Canisteo, Roy is survived by four sons: Kenneth (Whitney) Francis of Washington State, Nicholas Francis and Roy G. Francis, Jr. both of Wayland and James (Mary Ann) Francis of Kentucky, four daughters: Charlotte Francis of Canisteo, Ashley Francis of Springwater, Lisa Rubio and Christine Carroll both of Kentucky. He is also survived by 11 wonderful grandchildren and three great grandchildren as well as two sisters: Carolyn Green of Wayland and Amy (Harold) Brown of Palmyra and many nieces and nephews. Roy was predeceased by his parents, a brother: William Francis and a sister: Geraldine Copp. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service with military honors Wednesday at 11:00 am at the Buena Vista Wesleyan Church, Cty. Rte. 69. Burial will be in the Bath National Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Roy G. Francis, Sr. name may be made to the American Heart Association.
